During a dental emergency, our first goal will be to save your natural teeth whenever possible. Unfortunately, this isn’t always an option; some teeth are just too damaged to be repaired. When that happens, it may be better to remove and replace the tooth altogether. If you think you need a tooth extraction, get in touch with Dental House of Pittsburgh; Dr. Verner’s gentle touch will make the entire process smoother, and you can trust that the rest of your smile will stay safe.
Reasons for Tooth Extraction
We may have to remove a tooth under the following circumstances:
-
The tooth is suffering from an infection that root canal therapy can’t stop and could compromise your oral health.
-
An accident has broken the tooth so severely that a crown can’t be placed to restore its shape and strength.
-
You have a wisdom tooth that can’t erupt correctly or otherwise can’t stay in the mouth without causing complications.
-
The teeth are too crowded together for a necessary orthodontic procedure to work.
